This is week two of EDLD 5364 Teaching with Technology. I
have learned a great deal this week about how important it is for teachers to
integrate technology into their classrooms. Coming from a technology
background, I always knew that technology was a very useful tool, but I never
knew the real impact it could have. Technology is very beneficial for all
students, no matter their handicaps or background. I have come to appreciate
the fact that my district does offer professional development opportunities in
technology to the teachers and administrators; and then encourages us to use
what we have learned in the classroom. As an aspiring administrator this week
has made me realize that I will also need to make sure that these same
opportunities and encouragements are given to my staff. It is a full time job
making sure that technology is kept in the forefront; but “by paying attention
to the learner, the learning environment, professional competency, system
capacity, community connections, technology capacity, and accountability,
technology will be kept in service to learning” (Schacter 1999).
